A New Word In Medicine

Illiteracy of doctors, their mentality, stupidity or simply idiotism – I just cannot find words to characterize the way it goes while passing the military-medical commission in the Armenian Army. A young man was called to join the Army. He goes to the military recruiting office to pass medical observation and says to the psychiatrist “I’m a gay”. In normal secular country he is likely to be told “That’s your problem, pass the commission”, but we have it quite another way. The psychiatrist rushes to report it to the Chairman of the commission and the recruiting office chief. The young man is being taken through the recruiting office rooms, shown to all, including the draftees, accompanying it with non-ambiguous hints after which the psychiatrist diagnoses: ‘Homosexuality’ and assigns him to mental home. The recruiting-office chief informs about it to his parents, place of work or study. 20 year-old Mamikon Ovsepjan and 18 year-old Misak Kocharjan went through it. But presently it’s not only them to have such problems. ‘Kind’ recruiting-office chief took care of everything. He even gave it away to the school M. Kocharjan’ brother studies at. He did his part of job. One can also easily understand the doctor’s line whose sole aim is to grab more money for a certain restricted period of time. So here the gay visits the mental home by the assignment. No one is surprised there at the non-observation diagnose and analysis and it’s now for the chief medical officer to set him at ease by saying: “We won’t put you in hospital but take you through outpatient observation.” It’s nowadays that the result of the mental home observation is interpreted as “Sexual perversion” but before that it was called “Split personality”. Our psychiatrists are still unaware that back to 1991 World Health Organization came to a unanimous decision to exclude homosexuality from the International Code of Diseases, where it had been since 1948 (the new text of the Code was promulgated on January 1, 1993, that day officially accepted as the day of the revocation of the given Clause). Though they might be well aware of it, and it’s simply because Armenian Health Practice is totally different from that of the World one? But for God’s sake don’t take it as care for gays by the Armenian psychiatrists, anything of the kind! They don’t want to have problems at their hospitals; moreover, they were given a verbal order from above, to be accurate, from Ministry of Defense not to send gays to the Army. It is drawn from experience that gay in the Armenian Army is a headache for the command. Even if a gay tries to conceal his sexual orientation, then there will be always good people “at large” mainly of rogue’s circles willing to deliver that message to the respective military unit. A dreadful humiliation is breaking out then. First he is heavily beaten, and then the soldiers refuse to eat from common dishes. There were cases when in similar situations the soldiers of a number of military unities belonging to Yerevan garrison refused to enter the mess-room, demanding replacement of the dishes. There is no way to explain it but it is truth. Even if a gay informs about it beforehand – he stays unbeaten though all the same humiliated. His dish is drilled into a few small holes; he shouldn’t sit with everyone; it’s a stain to smoke up his cig-end; he is permanently on duty carrying out most dirty work, but never dishwashing. The situation is even worse in the unites situated on occupied territories, where soldiers live in the houses abandoned by the Azerbaijanis. Gays are given separated suburban houses; they are methodically beaten and raped. After all he is not even taken to medical post for so-called “Code of honor” existing in all the military units forbidding lying with a gay in the same ward. I may call it savagery but I would rather bring another example. The cadets of a military college learnt that his fellow-student is a gay. “The powerful ones” of the college met him to tell ether he leaves or…3 000 bucks have done its part. He became powerful himself.

According to the Decree of All-Union Central Executive Committee (ACEC) promulgated on December 17, 1993 and entering into its legal force on March 7, 1934, buggery was regarded as a criminal offence entering into the Codes of all Soviet Republics. On January 1936 the people's commissar on Justice Nikolaj Krylenko declared that homosexuality was the product of exploiter classes’ degradation, which didn’t know what to do and that such people wouldn’t find their place in social society, based on sound principles. Thus, the phenomenon of homosexuality was tied up with counterrevolution. Later the soviet lawyers and doctors talked on homosexuality mainly as a manifestation of bourgeoisie moral degradation, which was a concise reiteration of the arguments brought by German fascists.

The Article 116 “Buggery” hasn’t been abolished in Armenia yet. Though it’s true that its violation won’t cause imprisonment for we are already members of the European Council. But even when it is abolished, the attitude towards the homosexuals will long stay, put it mildly, “negative”. We just have to make choice – shall we keep on the traditions of Bolsheviks and Fascists?

НЕ ОТВЕТИЛИ НА ОБРАЩЕНИЕ ГОМОСЕКСУАЛИСТОВ

Газета "Аравот" поинтересовалась у члена армянской делегации в Парламентской Ассамблее Совета Европы Ашота Галояна, намерена ли делегация ответить на открытое письмо руководителя Ассоциации армянских гомосексуалистов и лесбиянок Франции, в котором выражена озабоченность нарушением в Армении прав сексуальных меньшинств. "Никакого письма мы не получали и не обсуждали. Отмечу, однако, что созданная Национальным Собранием комиссия последовательно выполняет обязательства перед Советом Европы".

Это - пиаровская раскрутка избитой темы, и она не проливает никакой свет на реальное положение вещей. Реальное положение гомиков в армии любой страны определяется особым отделом (пятым ?), ответственным за идеологическую обработку личного состава. В армиях большинства стран их не преследуют, но ставят на негласный учёт. Лица , ведающие этим "учётом", ни в коем случае не должны быть гомиками, и в их задачу входит манипулирование гомиками (обычно через идеологически-психологически подкованных собратьев и наседок) таким образом, чтобы из них извлечь максимум пользы и не допустить, чтобы противник мог воспользоваться этой слабостью. Би - обычно не считается пороком, и может даже оказаться преимуществом в определённых ситуациях.

Вся информация на этот счёт засекречена, больше всего известно об израильской армии. Слишком юрые гомики 1) не должны далеко продвигатыся по служебной лестнице, 2) не допустить их в разведывательные органы.
