The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology has announced that, in keeping with international telecommunications standards, all PSTN subscriber numbers in the Baku city area will consist of seven digits instead of the current six. This will become effective on August 1, 2004. From that date, all Baku PSTN telephone numbers will be prefixed with the number "4".
This will affect:
* All residential and business telephone numbers
* All local clients and vendors
* All Catel CDMA and microwave telephone services
This will not affect:
* GSM network subscribers (mobiles)
* Thuraya or Inmarsat network subscribers
* Azerbaijan PSTN numbers outside the Baku (012) city area
Thanks and regards
